Empowering Voices: EYC Students Soar on TEDx Youth Stage

Through EYC’s partnership with the Canadian International School (CIS) in Phnom Penh, EYC students were invited to apply for an exciting TEDx Youth Talk event centered around the theme of “Global Citizenship.” Demonstrating their enthusiasm and dedication to making a positive impact, many students eagerly applied. We are proud to share that two female students, Monika and Seangly, were selected to represent EYC and deliver their own talks—an inspiring recognition of their passion, innovative ideas, and leadership potential.

We are delighted to share their talks with you and hope you find them as inspiring as we did.

Seangly

During her TED Talk, Seangly shared heartfelt insights on what it means to be a good global citizen. Reflecting on her experiences at EYC—as both an art teacher and a student of English literature—she highlighted the valuable lessons she has learned along her journey. Seangly emphasized that solving global challenges requires thoughtful collaboration and that meaningful change is most effective when driven by empathy and genuine human connection. She believes that showing compassion and being present—without overthinking the past or future—are essential for building authentic relationships.

Monika

Monika delivered an inspiring and compelling talk about the transformative power of technology. She shared her personal story of how access to just one device changed her life’s trajectory, opening doors to education, opportunity, and empowerment. Monika emphasized the critical role technology plays in Cambodia’s development and passionately called on youth—especially girls and young women—to challenge gender stereotypes and explore careers in tech. She emphasized that technology can connect and uplift entire communities, and she encouraged the next generation of Cambodian leaders to harness its potential for positive change.
